Instructions:

1. Cut your neutral cardstock into 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 squares. (the trimmer is best for this but if you don't have one then use the ruler and scissors)

2. The size of the mini photo album will depend on how many 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 pieces of card stock you cut. (we had two)

3. Fold each 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 square in half, corner to corner to create two triangles (see sample 1.1). Open the square and lay it flat.
(see sample 1.2)

4. Turn the square over (so fold collapses away from you), fold the square again in half, making sure that the cross/triangular fold and this current fold are opposite(see sample 1.4). Then open & fold again(see sample 1.5). Unfold again, your square should look like sample 1.6.

5. At this point you should be able to fold the square down into a smaller square which measures 4 x 4. (see sample 1.7) When you fold the square down the triangular fold/crease should come forward so that they touch.

6. When all squares are folded, glue both folded squares together (see sample 1.8). Make sure to glue solid squares (with no cross fold) together, and make sure that the squares alternate how they collapse, so that one collapses in and the other out*. (see sample 1.8 & 1.9) *if you are going to add more folded squares you must keep alternating the squares.

You have completed the "pages" of your mini album.

7. Cut your decorative paper into 6 x 6 squares. (you need two of these)

8. Wrap the decorative paper around the cardboard (covers), and glue them down.

9. Glue ribbon to the inside of one of the covers. (it is best to fold the ribbon in half to find the middle)

10. Glue both covers to each end of the folded "pages" of the album. (make sure to cover with plenty of glue)

11. Fold out the mini album, it is time to decorate it. (see sample 1.9)

12. Cut colored cardstock &/or decorative paper into 4 x 4 squares. You may double up the coordinating squares for a layered look. In this case you need to have the top layer 3 3/4 x 3 3/4. (coming down a 1/4 inch)

13. Begin laying the squares onto the pages of the mini album. Arrange them in a pattern that is pleasing to you. ***Make sure to cut the squares that need to be placed onto the squares with the triangular folds.

14. Once you have the desired look, glue the pieces down.

15. Choose the photos that you are going to use in the album. (If this is a gift then be sure to leave the whole squares for photos.)

16. Use your embellishments to decorate the remaining (triangular) spaces. *** also make sure to leave room for some poems & documenting.

17. Decorate the covers as you please. Collapse the album and tie.

It is now ready for display or to be given away.
